Optimal generation for wind-thermal power plant systems with multiple fuel sources

    Get PDF
In this paper, the combined wind and thermal power plant systems are operated optimally to reduce the total fossil fuel cost (TFFC) of all thermal power plants and supply enough power energy to loads. The objective of reducing TFFC is implemented by using antlion algorithm (ALA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA). The best method is then determined based on the obtained TFFC from the three methods as dealing with two study cases. Two systems with eleven units including one wind power plant (WPP) and ten thermal power plants are optimally operated. The two systems have the same characteristic of MFSs but the valve loading effects (VLEs) on thermal power plants are only considered in the second system. The comparisons of TFFC from the two systems indicate that CSA is more powerful than ALA and PSO. Furthermore, CSA is also superior to the two methods in terms of faster search process. Consequently, CSA is a powerful method for the problem of optimal generation for wind-thermal power plant systems with consideration of MFSs from thermal power plants

Minimize electricity generation cost for large scale wind- thermal systems considering prohibited operating zone and power reserve constraints

    Get PDF
Wind power plants (WPs) play a very important role in the power systems because thermal power plants (TPs) suffers from shortcomings of expensive cost and limited fossil fuels. As compared to other renewable energies, WPs are more effective because it can produce electricity all a day from the morning to the evening. Consequently, this paper integrates the optimal power generation of TPs and WPs to absolutely exploit the energy from WPs and reduce the total electricity generation cost of TPs. The target can be reached by employing a proposed method, called one evaluation-based cuckoo search algorithm (OEB-CSA), which is developed from cuckoo search algorithm (CSA). In addition, conventional particle swarm optimization (PSO) is also implemented for comparison. Two test systems with thirty TPs considering prohibited working zone and power reserve constraints are employed. The first system has one wind power plant (WP) while the second one has two WPs. The result comparisons indicate that OEB-CSA can be the best method for the combined systems with WPs and TPs

Effect of loading paths on hydroforming ability of stepped hollow shaft components from double layer pipes

    Get PDF
The step hollow shaft components are composed of two layers of different materials, they are formed using tube hydroforming process due to its high strength and rigidity, low weight and flexible profiles, compared to traditional casting, welding, and forming methods. These products are effectively used in industries such as the automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace and defense, and oil and gas sectors. The success of various double layer pipe hydroforming process depends on several factors, with the most important being the internal pressure path and axial loading path. This paper presents research on the effect of input loading paths on the hydroforming ability of a different two-layer metal structure - an outer layer of SUS304 stainless steel and an inner layer of CDA110 copper - using 3D numerical simulations on Abaqus/CAE software. Output criteria were used to evaluate the forming ability of the formed components, including Von Mises stress, Plastic strain component (PEmax), wall thinning, and pipe profile, based on which the input loading paths were combined during the forming process. These output criteria allow for more accurate predictions of material behavior during the hydroforming process, as well as deformation and stress distribution. This can support the design process, improve product quality, reduce errors, and increase production efficiency. The research results can be applied as a basis for optimizing load paths for the next experimental step in the near future, for undergraduate and graduate training, as well as allowing designers and engineers to optimize the process of hydroforming of different 2-layer tubes, reducing costs, improving accuracy, flexible design, minimizing risks, and increasing efficienc

In this paper, the system performance of the two-way of half-duplex (HD) relaying network under the impact of the direct link is studied. The model system has two sources (S) and one destination (D) communicate by direct link and via relay (R). For system performance analysis, we derived the lower and upper bound for outage probability (OP). Furthermore, the analytical expressions of the system performance are verified by using the Monte Carlo simulation in the effect of main parameters. As shown in the results, we can the simulation and analytical results have a good agreement

In this paper, the one-way decode-and-forward (DF) full-duplex relaying network system with presence of direct link is investigated. In the analysis section, we derived the exact, lower, and upper bound for outage probability (OP) with maximal ratio combining (MRC) at the receiver. Furthermore, the system performance's analytical expressions are verified by using the Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, we investigated the effect of the main parameters on the OP of the proposed system. Finally, we can sate that the simulation curves overlap the analytical curves to convince the analysis section. This research can provide a novel recommendation for the communication network

Single phase second order sliding mode controller for complex interconnected systems with extended disturbances and unknown time-varying delays

    Get PDF
Novel results on complex interconnected time-delay systems with single phase second order sliding mode control is investigated. First, a reaching phase in traditional sliding mode control (TSMC) is removed by using a novel single phase switching manifold function. Next, a novel reduced order sliding mode observer (ROSMO) with lower dimension is suggested to estimate the unmeasurable variables of the plant. Then, a new single phase second order sliding mode controller (SPSOSMC) is established based on ROSMO tool to drive the state variables into the specified switching manifold from beginning of the motion and reduce the chattering in control input. Then, a stability condition is suggested based on the well-known linear matrix inequality (LMI) method to ensure the asymptotical stability of the whole plant. Finally, an illustrated example is simulated to validate the feasible application of the suggested technique

This paper proposed and investigated the one-way amplify-and-forward (AF) full-duplex relaying network under impact of direct link. For the system performance analysis, the exact and lower and upper bound form of the system outage probability (OP) are investigated and derived. In this system model, authors assume that the E uses the MRC (maximal ratio combining) technique. Finally, we can see that the analytical and the simulation values overlap to verify the analytical section using the Monte Carlo simulation. Also, we investigate the influence of the system primary parameters on the proposed system OP
